UCHI DESHI FAQ
Q- Why are you hosting a program like this?
A- I want to see this generation challenged in a way that is rare. The combination of hard physical training, deep mental stimulation, and community service cannot be found anywhere else in the area. You will not find another budo karate school in the DC Metro Area that will offer a setting where participants have the attention of a dojo sensei for 12 hours a day the entire week.
Q- I want to participate, but cannot attend all five days. Is there a discount for those who can only attend 2-4 days of the Uchi Deshi Camp?
A- The five day commitment is a serious one. Creating positive change requires sacrifice. I am looking for individuals who are willing to make such a sacrifice and commit to the full five-day camp.
Q- I have no martial arts background at all. Is the Uchi Deshi Camp a good idea for me?
A- This would be a perfect, in-depth, well-rounded environment for exposure and growth. The one week camp training is roughly equivalent to 6 months of training in the dojo.
Q- I'm kind of nervous about this. Can you give me an idea as to what a typical day will look like?
A- Sure thing:
8:00a-8:30a- Warm up jog and stretching
8:30a-10:00a- Kyokushin training
10:00a-10:45a- Snack, free time, recovery
10:45a-12:00p- Conditioning
12:00p-2:00p- Lunch and Service Projects
2:00p-3:30p- Kyokushin training
3:30p-5:00-Snack and silent reading/reflection
5:00-8:00- Kyokushin training
Q- That looks pretty physically demanding. Is it really doable?
A- Of course! The demand is high, but the sacrifice is worthwhile. You will be pushed to do things that you didn't think you were capable of achieving.
Q- Why are there only 12 slots available for the Uchi Deshi Camp?
A- Simply because I want to work with a small group who is willing to step out and sacrifice their time, energy, and sweat. From what I've experienced in this area...maybe 12 is too lofty of a goal.
Q- Is the Camp really, completely unplugged?
A- Yes. I want to create an environment where participants can ignore the noise of the modern age and focus on their individual improvement through hard training. No exceptions.
